2nd International ICST Conference on Wireless Mobile Communication and Healthcare
MobiHealth 2011

Call for PhD Forum Participation

Cancelled

The PhD Forum on Wireless Mobile Communication and Healthcare will be hosted at the 2nd International ICST Conference on Wireless Mobile Communication and Healthcare (MobiHealth 2011). The overall aim of the PhD Forum is to bring PhD students who are scattered across countries and disciplines more together. Doctoral students working to advance medical diagnosis, treatment, and patient care through application of wireless communications, mobile computing and sensing technologies are asked to submit an extended abstract comprising a summary of their research findings, work in progress and planned research.

The Forum will be a platform for PhD students to interact both with their peers as well as experienced researchers and experts from academia, healthcare organizations, research institutions and industrial enterprises working in the field of wireless communication and health care. Emerging developments can be presented and discussed and new ideas and unfolding research can be explored.

The Forum will consist of short presentations highlighting the need and impact of the research work (5 minutes) and demonstrations (10 minutes) in the form of an experimental prototype or video presentation, depicting the results of the research conducted by the PhD students. Discussion with the panel and the audience will follow each presentation and demonstration. A competition will take place to recognize the best presentation and demonstration in the Forum.

Current Ph.D. students are encouraged to submit extended abstracts and participate in the forum. The Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others may be acknowledged in the extended abstract. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to attend MobiHealth 2011 and present their work at the PhD Forum. Authors of selected submissions will be invited to submit an extended version of their work to the IEEE TBME Special Section on Mobile and Wireless Technologies for Healthcare Delivery.

Extended abstract submission

Ph.D. students are invited to submit one-page extended abstracts that describe current research and potential contributions to theory and innovation in application of wireless mobile communications in healthcare. Ph.D. students should also include in their abstract submissions short description of the demonstration they wish to make during the Forum. Submissions must be received by no later than September 5, 2011. Extended abstracts should include the author's name, affiliation, and email address. Interested PhD students should prepare their abstracts according to the abstract submission template and submit them via the conference management system , by selecting "PhD forum" in the list of topics (only pdf files can be uploaded). Students co-authors of regular or special session papers interested in participating in the PhD forum, should also submit an extended abstract presenting their PhD research work.
