Short bio Dr. Nikolaos Bourbakis (IEEE Fellow) received his BS degree in mathematics from the National University of Athens, Greece, and his Ph.D. in computer science and computer engineering, from the Dept of Computer Engineering & Informatics, University of Patras, Greece, in 1983. He currently is a Distinguished Professor in Informatics & Technology, J.A Professor of Geriatrics and the Director of the Assistive Technologies Research Center (ATRC) at Wright State University, OH. He has published more than 350 articles in refereed International Journals, bookchapters and Conference Proceedings, and 10 books as an author, co-author or editor. He has graduated 18 PhDs and 39 Master students. He is the founder and the EIC of the International Journals on AI Tools (WSP) and the Int. Journal on Monitoring & Surveillance Research (IGI?Global, 2013), the Editor in Charge of a Research Series of Books in AI (WS Pub.), the Founder and General Chair of several International IEEE Computer Society Conferences, Symposia and Workshops. He is/was an Associate Editor in numerous IEEE and Int. Journals, and a Guest Editor in 19 special issues in IEEE and Int. Journals related to his research interests. His research work has been internationally recognized with the: IEEE Computer Society Technical Research Achievement Award 1998, IEEE ICTAI 10 years Research Contribution Award 1999, Pattern Recognition Society Journal, best papers selection for 1999, ASC Outstanding Scientists & Engineers Research Award-2005, Degree of Honor and Recognition, University of Patras, Greece 2007, Dr. F. Russ IEEE Biomedical Engineering Award, Dayton Ohio, 2010, Pattern Recognition Journal most cited paper 2006-2010. |
